Dr. Karen Jones, along with 19 other Nazarenes throughout the US, traveled to Cuba October 18-23 as part of a Cuba Vision Team. The group visited potential work sites (churches and land) on the mainland, as well as the Isla de la Juventude (Island of Youth) with the plans for bringing future Work & Witness teams.
On the Isla de la Juventude, the government is donating land in compensation for five church properties the Revolution took away many years ago. As well, the government has donated a large lot in the provincial capital of Pinar del Rio in exchange for a 660 square foot lot in a rural area. The Church of the Nazarene now has 79 churches, 22 church-type missions, 461 preaching points outside the local church, and almost 8,000 members.
